Biography:

Duane K. Friesen is Edmund G. Kaufman Professor Emeritus of Bible and Religion, Bethel College, N. Newton, Kansas, and on the faculty of Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary Great Plains Extension. He holds a BA from Bethel College, a BD from Mennonite Biblical Seminary, and a ThD in Christian Social Ethics from Harvard Divinity School, and is the author of Christian Peacemaking and International Conflict: A Realist Pacifist Perspective (Herald Press, 1986) and Artists, Citizens, Philosophers: Seeking the Peace of the City (Herald Press, 2000). He has collaborated with Glen Stassen and other scholars in developing just peacemaking theory. He served on the MCC Peace Committee from 1996 to 2005. Friesen is a member of the Bethel College Mennonite Church, where he currently serves on the Peace and Justice Commission. He is married to Elizabeth Voth Friesen; they have two married daughters and four grandchildren.
