THE CREATION (PDF)
Genesis 1: the creation of the earth, the sky and all things. Two characters: God and Gabriel. A jubilant God explains to "creative consultant" Gabriel about gravity, elephants and even puns. Finally God unveils an early draft for humans, wondering aloud just "what they will do." 10 minutes.
CAIN & ABEL (PDF)
This scene brings to life the individual characteristics of the two characters Can and Abel. Family dynamics between "Momma's boy" Cain and his earthy brother, Abel, lead to conflict. Genesis 4:1-16. 6 minutes.
THE FLOOD (PDF)
This scene looks at the discussion that might have taken place between God and Gabriel before the great flood. Gabriel looks for two righteous people to save from the flood which God has declared to be a total liquidation. Helps us explore the question of what it means to be created in God’s image to explore, to think, to create but not to “forget where we came from.” Genesis 6-8. 10 minutes.
THE TOWER OF BABEL (PDF)
Frank and Rudy, two brick layers, wonder what it would have been like to be working on the tower when the languages changed. A new look at what might have happened in Genesis 11. 8 minutes.
ABRAHAM (PDF)
Features a visit from the angel Gabriel to Abram. Gabriel brings the word from God that Abram (to be renames Abraham) and Sarah will have a son, and that Abraham will be the father of many nations. Along the way, they also discuss Lot, circumcision and Ishmael. Genesis 15: 1-5. 10 minutes.
DESERT SONGS and THE GOLDEN CALF (PDF)
In this 3-minute monologue an energetic glee club president, tells the history from Abraham up to Moses’ leading the children of Israel to the wilderness, with sing-a-long songs. This leads into THE GOLDEN CALF (8 minutes, 2 characters) in which Moses returns from 40 days on the mountain to discover that Aaron has led the Israelites in building a Golden Calf. Exodus 32.
SAMUEL (PDF)
Features Samuel near the end of his life (I Samuel 8) recounting the history the Israelite kings. A southern accent is a nice touch for this monologue. 5 minutes.
SOLOMON (PDF)
Solomon is enlisted to help a young man (Nathan) write a love poem in this 10-minute scene. Perfect for Valentine’s Day or to introduce a session on male/female relationships. Taken from the Song of Solomon.
JEREMIAH (PDF)
Jeremiah tells this three-minute little-known story from Jeremiah 13 – a short story about a pair of shorts.
WXPR TV (PDF)
In this 5-minute scene reporter Chuck Orien reports from the Twenty-third Annual Convention of Prophets of the Northern and Southern Kingdoms and interviews the prophet, Hosea. See Hosea 1.
JONAH (PDF)
Jonah returns from his trip to Ninevah threatening to resign as a prophet after his terrible experience. He’s reminded that he was successful – 120,000 souls were saved. Then God and Jonah share a “counseling” moment and God realizes that he is too far away from the people he has created. From the book of Jonah. 10 minutes.
ADVENT (PDF)
God has decided to send his son as a baby and the angel Gabriel wants the job of announcing this to Mary. The scene closes with a discussion of how Gabriel might also appear to the angels after the birth. From Luke 2. 10 minutes.
